No Exercise Share This: Join 1.5M+ subscribers and receive exclusive tools, advice and resources sent directly by Tim: Loss of fat via Best Science and Simplicity It is possible to lose 20 pounds of body fat in 30 days by optimizing any of three factors: exercise, diet or drug use regimen. I've seen the elite app of the three of us working with professional athletes. In this post, we will explore what I mean as the "low carbohydrate dieta". In the last six weeks, I have cut from approximately 180 lbs. to 165 lbs., adding about 10 lbs. of muscle, which means I have lost about 25 lbs. of fat. This is the only diet besides the end that has produced veins through my abdomen, which is the last place I lose fat (I gain, Scandinavian genetics). Here are the four simple rules I followed... Rule #1: Avoid "white" carbohydrates Avoid any carbohydrate that is — or can be — white. Therefore, the following foods are prohibited, except within 1.5 hours of finishing a resistance training of at least 20 minutes in length: bread, rice, cereals, potatoes, pasta and fried food with bread. If you avoid eating something white, you'll be safe. Rule #2: Eating the same meals over and over The most successful dieters, regardless of whether their goal is muscle gain or fat loss, eat the same meals over and over. Mix and match, building each meal with one of each of the following three groups: Proteins: White eggs with an entire egg for flavor Chicken breast or organic thigh fed by beefBlack beansLentilsBlack beansBeansBeansBeansBeansBeansBleedsVegetables:SpinachAsparagusPeas vegetablesMixed Eat as much as you like previous foods. Just remember: keep it simple. Choose three or four meals and repeat them. Almost all restaurants can give you a salad or vegetables instead of French fries or potatoes. Surprisingly, I have found Mexican food, exchanging rice for vegetables, to be one of the most favorable cuisines to the "low meat" diet. Most people who follow "low" carbohydrate diets complain of low energy and stop smoking, not because such diets cannot work, but because they consume insufficient calories. A 1/2 cup rice is 300 calories, while a 1/2 cup spinach is 15 calories! Vegetables are not warmly dense, so it is critical to add legumes for caloric load. Some athletes eat 6-8x a day to break the calorie load and avoid fat gain. I think this is ridiculously uncomfortable. Like 4x a day:10am – breakfast1pm – lunch5pm – second smallest lunch7:30-9pm – 10pm sports training – dinner12am – glass of wine and Discovery Channel before bed Here are some of my meals that are repeated over and over again: scramble with an integer egg, black beans and vegetables mixed in microwave Organic beefs herbals, organic beans, Mexican vegetables mixed and guare Do not drink milk, normal soft drinks or fruit juice. I'm a wine fan and I have at least one glass of wine every night, which I think really helps sports recovery and fat loss. Recent research on resveratrol supports this. Rule #4: Take a day off a week I recommend Saturdays as your day "Dieters Gone Wild". They let me eat whatever I want on Saturdays, and I leave my way to eat ice cream, Snickers, Take 5, and all my other vices in excess. I get a little sick and I don't want to see any of that for the rest of the week. Paradoxically, the caloric intake of dramatic scratches this way once a week increases the loss of fat by ensuring that its metabolic rate ( thyroid function, etc.) does not decrease from the extended caloric restriction. That's right: eating pure trash can help you lose fat. Welcome to Utopia. If you liked this post, take a look at my last book, #1 New York Times and #1 Amazon bestseller. Without doing any exercises" ADRNew to the post....just bought the book in my Kindle – I would recommend buying a physical copy (and probably do that too) as it is easier to pass and you can write notes in a real book... I started the diet a week ago and I have the following personal comments and observations: 1. I added that I would take Metamucil in the morning... I take a lot of time for this friends who find out but being super regular feels great... The product is the psillum shell – aren't you sure how it really fits in this diet? Any ideas? I found it took 6 days to start the diet to see any real effect at all... but when I did it it was quite dramatic. My initial weight was 200 pounds and I am generally +/- 3 pounds.... It seemed that after the 6th day my average weight went from 200 to 195 and they have seemed about 1 pounds every 2 days since (except the day of trap where there is a plateau)3. What about corn? Technically I think it is an integer grain.... but it comes in some of the cod salads I have been eating....it's not much but is it good or bad? (i.e. – well, I would eat much more, bad that would limit me to what I eat now)4. Olive oil and red wine vinegar is my favorite way to dress a salad now.5. learn to make eggs that don't stick to a skillet You know what about cheese, good or bad? Some help there... I cut it for now, but I love cheese. Are there better guys than others?7. Pan Rye – I understand that rye bread has a very low GI reaction and insulin .. so it's okay or not?8. I've been involved in a Crossfit gym for a while – looking for pros / cons / and comparisons to 4HB trainings... TimI has seen numerous comments approved from my entry, is Tim going to approve? Or when you're around to answer the question? My question was this, but more elongated... I run 3 x a week. From the beginning of this diet my energy levels have been worse and I am not able to run the distance and with the rhythm, which was making the last fall. Could it be because of the lack of carbohydrates (fuel) and more important, there is someone (if Tim is not around to answer this) who can make suggestions to gain more energy and stay within the confines of this diet? Thank you! Tim Ferriss Tim, try to refuel immediately after training with Vitargo S2, for the book's recess in "Ultraendurance". Good luck! Brian JI started this diet on New Year's Day. My initial weight was 225 and 7 days later, I'm already 209! I'm so excited! By the way I didn't look at the scale throughout the week, but by day 3 I felt thinner and lighter. Did you know that you lost some weight, but 16 pounds in 7 days?! WESOME! My goal was to reach 200, but at this rate, I'll be there by the end of the week 2. Hmm... maybe I should try it for 195? The only exercise I've done was to walk to work and return every day (approximately 2 miles of travel) and play 1.5 hours of indoor volleyball once a week. That's it. The hardest part was the very bad desire for sugar on day 4, but it was gone in 24 hours. I had no idea that I was consuming so much sugar every day – my body was addicted to it. I followed the diet to a T. I ate a lot of: bitter chicken breast beans, vegetables mixed with pine, vegetables with tuned chicken spinach chicken salad salmongrilled salmongrilled skirt steaksweet potato (1 night enlatada, another night, baked) for breakfast, I ate 3 egg whites & 1 or 2 whole eggs (difficult boiled, scrambled). What I missed most was milk, so on my day of cheating, (today) I had a pile of butter milk pancakes and 2 large glasses of milk for breakfast... and two cups of Reeses... and two cookies. I hope this day of trap doesn't ruin my weight loss. Anyway, I'm excited about the results so far, so I'm gonna try to go at least another week. Thanks, Tim! Natalie Hi. Tim, I love your book, and I've been on your diet and program for a week. Today was my first day of binge, and although it was extremely difficult for me to go without chocolate during the first few days, when my day of "binge" came, I didn't really feel like that and I almost had to force myself to eat it just because I could. 🙂I have a question for you regarding cold showers. I take a Tues and Thurs but to make it less traumatizing, I start with a hot shower for 5 minutes and little by little within the next 10-15 minutes slowly put it colder and colder. Do I need to bump into the hot pure ice cold water to get the best results? Or will it slowly acclimatize me this way still show good results? I also do the ice baths in MWF as suggested, but do not use ice bags as you recommend, but simply use the coldest water of the tap. Is it still okay? ( Believe me, it's still freezing) I've lost 5 pounds this week alone! I can't wait to see what I lose next week 🙂Tim FerrissCongratulations! Shock is not necessary, and the graduate shower is fine. TimjmIt's been a week since I started this and I've lost a little more than 5 pounds. I have about 20 to lose. I realize that in the days I work I do not lose weight the next day, but the next day when I do not work to lose (double time). Okay. I'm not tired, I don't feel like this is a diet and I think this is a good way to keep the weight once it's off. I don't miss rice and I've been frequenting Chipotle like others. I'm not sure when it's going to be my day of "baby." I don't want to have a complete trick, though because I want to take into account portions for some day when the weight is off and I'm in a way to keep. I'm a woman. I've read many women's posts that are having a hard time and all I can say is stick with it and stick to normal parts. Unlike other diets that you can't have as much as you want, this "diet" helps you both have portions under control and healthy eating going on. RRHi Tim, I would have some questions about PAGG that were not addressed in the book.1) It is recommended to take PAGG six days a week (one day off every week and one week off every 2 months). You mention the week off is critical. What are the reasons for the day and week off?2) What about the PAGG free time in relation to binge day? I suppose it would be better if these were not the same day (based on the chapter "Damaging Control"). Thank you very much. My diet has always been quite similar to the 4-hour body but I used oats and quinoa for my carbohydrate meals and then add fat instead of carbohydrates to meals after 3 or 4. Since my last competition I had put about 12 ugly pounds and decided I needed to make a change as I was having a difficult time in my food plan with a competition in my future. I guess when I started replacing beans with all my carbohydrates I was about 19% BF I know this is in a healthy range but I have a lot of muscle and any additional fat makes me look chunky, it doesn't fit. I prefer 13-15%. I quickly lost 5 pounds in the first week, I'm not sure if they were the beans that helped or didn't fool knowing that I had a planned binge that would come soon! (where I seem to be tied to eating when the opportunity arose) I missed my morning oats and egg whites, but I found that beans are really very satisfying and seem to keep me full longer. I just had my first binge scheduled yesterday. Today I'm heavier than when I started. I'm trying not to go down, I know that when I eat sugar and excess carbohydrates swell me as well as a little hangover the next day. It's hard not to eat bad today because I feel bad. I'm gonna give it another week or two with binge days and see if everything actually disappears within a few days after binge plus some. My husband just brought a bag of breakfast tacos! Where were these yesterday? I'm going to make my breakfast of the champions before I cave, 1/2 cup black beans, 1 cup white egg, 1 whole egg, vegetables and sauce. Good luck to everyone. Make 2011 your healthiest and most appropriate for ever! Please publish success stories. They're very encouraging! kksorry, I'm going to publish again! I read through some of the posts listing what they eat and my diet is very different. I exercise for about 2 hours a day so maybe that's why, white eggs, whole egg, vegetables and beans for post-breakfast training shakechili (turkey, kidney beans, tomatoes, spices) on vegetables, chicken, salsa, vegetables, protien and vegetables with a small fat protein and vegetables with a small fish cabin apart 3-4 hours ago I used to eat Fagi with an amazing protein that was going to eat. I'm not a big fan of the cheese house, but the job is done without making me want more. I shoot for 1,500-1800 calories a day. I've always been told you need to eat a protein with a carbohydrate or a fat. Carbs during the day and add fats at night to help keep you full. George TateTim – I bought three books and recorded my information within the time parameter for the initial challenge of the New York Times (4-Hour Body vs Guinness). Did I wonder when I could know about the premiums? Thank you! Theresa The diet is very interesting. All beans is difficult and all the food butide is difficult, especially if you used to starve to lose the wit. I'm 49 years old (50 this 18th of this month) and female. I'm not in a horrible way, exercising and exercising for about 10 years. I'd like to lose about 20, 25 pounds. I'm 5'8 and a half inches high. Home wieght 157.7 on January 6, 20111/09/11 weight, 154, lost, 3.7 lbs. 🙂 There is no exercise yet, but it will start on Monday 10. He also measured today. It will keep you informed! Kristal Hey Tim! Hubby and I followed this diet and made frequent updates and publications for the last year and loved the results – hubby dropped 40 pounds and went from 8 to 2 in a season! He got the book just in time for Christmas, and after 2 months of a free holiday meal, we were excited to start the diet again for the new year. Instead of the old reliable recipes I had used before, this week I took all my meals from the new Low Carb Cookbook. Well, at the end of the week, Hubby had lost 0 pounds, and I had *gifted* 2 pounds! I checked many of the ingredients I had used in the meals that the cookbook required and did not align with the "rules" and the advice we had followed a year ago? The Bacon, egg, avocado and salad tomato (we ate for breakfast every morning) has syrup and sugar in the bacon – even reading the backs of each pack of turkey bacon in the store all the sugar listed as a main ingredient, and many have Maltodextrin that was initially forbidden. Looking for meat broth for "Leon's Lentils", I did not find cans or meat broth boxes that did not contain any type of sugar, although I found several chicken broths that were completely natural. The Italian Meatballs requested 1/4 cup of bacon fat, (made of sugar and bacon-packed syrup), and the recommended Worcestershire sauce in the turkey pot contains melace, corn syrup and sugar. Maybe it just happened that I chose every recipe this week that was questionable, and maybe it's just my anal personality, but some things don't seem as strict as they did originally, like parmesan butter and cheese and nuts in all the salads. And 4HB mentions several times that lemon juice lowers the GI, but initially it was forbidden because it was a fruit. And what happened to Maltodextrin's warnings? Is it still wrong? Help me out – I feel confused. It seems that the cookbook implies that some "forgive" things are fine if it is in small doses, and initially it was under the impression that even breathing some of those things would prevent weight loss, and avoid it at all costs? Tim Ferriss When in doubt, follow the rules. I'm gonna take another look at the kitchen cradle. debbieis dill pickles well, pork and beans in a can for beans? Holly Hi Tim, I'm gonna try this one more time and I hope my post will do it through moderation. First, he loved the 4HB book, love the diet, and it just feels good to eat this way. However, not feeling love yet with any result and I am really hoping that you, or any other person, could weigh in (no punctuation intended) with similar thoughts, tips or experiences. I know that metabolism is supposed to slow down when we get older and I'm 45 years old, which is not exactly paleolithic the last time I checked, 5'9′′′ and quite active and lace, although 15-20 pounds too heavy for my satisfaction at 150 pounds. Over the last 3 weeks I have been doing the following:1. following the menu diet protocol, except for occasional dairy;2. take the PAGGG stack 4 x day;3. do later chain exercises w/sleep 3 x week + run or swim for 30 min. 2-3 x week. My weight has only fluctuated between 145 back to 150. Is sooo frustrating to be so diligent and so few results and I begin to wonder if my metabolism is still alive?! Should: reduce the size of the portion? exercise more? increase the dose of PAGG? Some suggestions or fragments of hope from others possibly progressing to similar turtles as the rhythm would really, really great. Holly Cathy Holly, I share your frustration. Starting my third week on this diet and only 4 pounds have been lost. I follow the diet religiously. No deviations. In my days of infidelity I started with my usual breakfast, but at noon I allowed myself a sandwich or a dish of pasta... I'm also gonna bite in a few biscuits or candy pieces... I've been doing very moderate exercise... yoga and hiking... What can I do to increase the weight loss rate? I am a 43-year-old woman, active, with about 15-20 pounds to lose and body fat of 22.5%. I should restrict my portions (used as a guide 1/2 c of beans, unlimited vegetables and equivalent to 20 g of animal protein... breakfast is always egg white, beans and spinach). Any idea or advice would be very appreciated! CRHolly & Cathy – I am on almost the same boat – 1 week doing slow carbohydrates. Plan followed by the letter. Lost 2 pounds before cheating day. To die after the cheating day had won only 5 pounds. This morning – I am back to my initial weight. I'm going to stay with her for another week – maybe not go back to scale until before the cheating day – not to discourage me. But, I'm afraid this can't work the same for us, ladies of a certain age... LorrieHolly and Cathy, same here, something frustrated. Follow the diet to the fullest, I'm vegetarian to use egg whites and protein powders, but they've only lost a couple of pounds entering week 3. I just want to lose 10 – 15 pounds, but I expected this to be faster. I also do turn classes of one hour 3 to 4 days per week. I was following WW and I'm still counting my points for the curiosity of him, and they're lower eating this way that I was before. But not lose any faster. Any useful comments on anyone? I have 53, 5'6, and about 138 pounds. JayLeeChinAnyone knows that if mixing in canned corn would be a lot of trouble, I know that corn is a vegetable and according to the guidelines that would be acceptable. However, I have read contradictory reports about whether or not corn is a suitable vegetable for this dietLisaHi Tim and All,Today my partner and I start the 4HB diet and we are very excited! I have called the challenge "My body redesign: a 60 kg trip". The black beans were great and so far we have been able to find everything that Tim recommends, although we are in a land far from the United States. So, until next month (10 February 2011), it's full of steam ahead... (no aim:p) Good luck with 4HBodiers! P.SeeTim,Some two questions about ice baths:1) Is it necessary to induce to crush even if one currently doesn't shine when in an ice bath? I find it easier to relax all my muscles during the ice bath, it produces very little shine. For the last 15-20 minutes when I'm stuck to my neck, I feel a pleasant desire to sleep. In one of my sessions I began to fear that I would fall asleep/losing consciousness so quickly I came out of the ice bath around the 15-minute mark. I guess I should induce children to soak up (others I'm totally relaxed after the first 3 minutes of an ice bath) to prevent me from falling asleep towards the end. Please see the chapters of "Máquina sin Carne" in 4HB for my warnings about soy. Good luck! TimTom Farress Lost 1.5kg according to scales and 1,5cm around the waist in my first week – no matter how much weight loss or gain, while having visible abdominals and general good definition at the end. I also just finished my first day of trap that was expelled with the 'death of the champions' ... pepper fillet cake, chocolate croissant and a picnic chocolate bar At the end I was given approx. 4500kcal on me, though it wasn't as much fun as I thought it might be. Quick question Tim – would you recommend against or by doing a short sprint training (10 x 10m with full recoverys) and heavy weight session (Lunges, Dips, Lat Pulldowns – 3 sets each) on the day of trap – would reduce the desired impact of over-feeding/leptin peak too much (I thought it might be worth taking advantage of the calorie abundance/overavit). Sookie Thanks for the job. I lost weight too. I like the pizza part. I love pizza. Rich BHi Tim,Got The 4-Hour Body last week and love it! I have both books and I have received a tremendous amount of useful information from each. I have a question about sweeteners. I enjoy tea and usually add honey or sugar. Is it okay with the Slow-Carb diet? If I can't use it? The cinnamon does not mix well with tea! Thanks, RichJPIs Chili (home or restaurant) bad or good for this diet? It has all the necessary ingredients but it seems that tomato sauce could be sify in restaurants (because of sugar). Any advice would be appreciated Marise Hello Tim: Okay, I'm in week 2 and I've lost about ten pounds. Sounds good, but I need to lose about ten more, so I'm a little under pressure, since this is the smallest amount of food I've ever eaten. This is my menu for the week: Breakfast: 3 eggs (2 whites, an entire egg), smoothie, bananna, 2 glasses of water Lunch: Chicken Salad, soup/Roast Meat Sandwich (on cheat days only), 2 glasses of water Dinner: Chicken or Turkey Drumstick, 3 glasses of water that I continue to swing between 100 pounds and 113, and I want to be back to 90 pounds. If he goes on, I'm not cheating anymore. How do I get the wet and keep it there? Luck The problem here is that he tells people what to do and how to get results and people still want to negotiate the fighting room while the fat glasses. The mirror doesn't negotiate. The scale doesn't negotiate. The diet should not be negotiable. Somewhere a long way, food has become "intertention." says the person who is overweight and honest about it. GeoffQuick asks for Tim – I'm reading the book, very interesting things, but I wonder: regarding the post-workout pizza mentioned in this post (but not really elaborate), are you advocating a post-workout meal "mini-cheat" or are you eating some bread/carbos for a more specific reason? Is there any ideal food after training that falls out of the recommendations of slow carbohydrates? I've read a lot of the comments here and I haven't really seen that approached. Cheers! God's men are: Guess what? There are no carbohydrates in Whiskey either, but about half the calories of beer. AnthonyTim, just finished the 4-hour Corps... Unbelievable! 1 question about the Slow Carb diet; usually runs in the mornings and my careers usually go more than an hour. How will this "eat within 1 hour of waking preferably within 1/2 hour of awakening" affect? So in summary you like: Wake up. RunEat Breakfast Will that make the results uneven? Thank youAnthony – Malaysiakaran deep singhhow to lose weight and fat without any exercise? And what kind of vegetables are low calories? Rossana Hello, I'm just trying to lose 10 pounds of fat... Should I slowly start introducing my regular healthy diet when I reach my target if it is before 30 days? Thank you! TomTim, in a previous comment I saw you recommend taking 30g of protein for breakfast. Do you recommend obtaining at least 30g of protein for each meal? Tim Ferriss For most men, absolutely. SeanI bought the book 12/26/10, and have been slow carbing since 12/27/10. My goal is to support me before starting a weight training program. I thought I could throw 15 pounds, and things are tracking very well with 6 lost! So, thank you, could anyone share thoughts about maintenance? After this 30-day period, I would like to incorporate grains, dairy and fruit regularly....Paul H.Me is proud of the group "without weight loss". I put my food plan up – very little fluctuation in the four days since. It actually went up 1.5 pounds since I started. A couple of questions. I started the 1/2/11 diet that followed a very heavy drink weekend – could I start my slow due to my liver taking time to return to normal? He also wondered whether part of the added weight could be due to increased water intake. It was terrible to drink water before he died. Now drinking 2-3x so much per day if not more – this would contribute to the lack of change in scale. Besides, not to be rude but I notice that I'm using the bathroom for #2 much less often? Does anyone else have this problem? He realized 1′ of my waist in the first week, but not sure if that was only due to the time of measurement. If not, I might suggest that my body is changing for the better. That by saying some weight loss to confirm this would be nice. I never said it in the first message, but I'm a 31-year-old man. 5'11" currently 200 (from 198.5) goal is to reach 175-180 depending on the overall muscle gain. NatalieTim, quick question for you. I did a little research on swimming in cold water against neutral water, and the result was that those of the cold water GAINED weigh more. This seems to contradict what you write in the book. Can you explain why this would be? Link below:Thank youNatalie Oh, also, I wanted to mention that I have now lost 7 pounds in the first 10 days and a total of 7′′′ fat (from waist, hips, chest, thighs and arms). I can't believe it! I love this program 🙂NatalieOh, forgot to mention. I've lost 7 pounds in the first 10 days! And lost 7′′ total body fat (existence, hips, chest, thighs, arm). I can't believe it! I love this book! 🙂Tim FerrissKeep it up 🙂Alexander Hello Tim, I just started this diet today and I was wondering: it would be possible (and so effective) to spread the 'dieters went wild day' in 2 parts: Friday night and Saturday morning + afternoon? That would be great for me, as I like to go out (to dinner) on Friday night and have some carbohydrates 'the day after'. And then returning to the slow motion on Saturday night, of course. Looking forward to your thoughts about this! Tim Ferriss I've seen the fat loss often for when people divide it like this. That said, if you want to try and report again, that would be great! BrianTim, I'm sorry to be a noob, but was this answer to me too? Thank you. BrianMeaning, this comment... "I've seen fat loss often for when people divide it like that. That said, if you want to try and report again, that would be great! " If so, I am not sure to follow. SericPaul, you must remember weight loss and fat loss are two very different things. 1′ out of your waist in 9 days sounds great. I'd try to find another way to measure your progress than a single scale. Corporal Calipers are probably the easiest, or take some tape measurements of the same few parts of the body every week. Gerald Pascua Important question. Can I eat yams? It's not white carbohydrates, but I'm sure it's hotly dense. I've been looking around and I can't determine whether it's allowed or not. I am 6'1′ 205 and using the 3pt chickenson test I am in 7.79% body fat. I have determined that this cannot be correct because although I am inclined I have 0 definition in my abs and I just don't feel to support. by simply "eyeballing it" as the book says I guess im in 20% and I'm trying to get 10% TheresaOther .5 pounds down. That's 4.3 lost in five days.. It's not bad, and it's not working yet. And I'm a lady ladies. I have always documented my diet and loss of wieght and compared to last year, my weight loss was almost the same in the same amount of time when I was counting calories, BUT. I was starving all the time and exercising 3 or 4 days a week. This is a much better way to diet. We'll see what's coming next week. (I plan to exercise, just trying to get used to the diet first. BrianHeadaches... I'm on day two of the 4HB slow carbohydrate diet. So far so good, except I'm still having headaches in the afternoon and I can't shake them. I guess it could be sugar withdrawals. I ate a spoonful of creamy organic peanut butter (White Whole Foods/365) around 3pm. In about 15 minutes my headache had decreased drastically. When I checked the PB bottle, I discovered it contained "organic pure-cane sugar", but the sugar nevertheless. I plan to buy a sugar-free PB today to stick to the plan, but it made me wonder about sugar (or lack thereof) is the cause of my headaches. BTW, I'm drinking a lot of water, so I don't think that's it. Any ideas or suggestions? Tim Ferriss Hi Brian. Try 10 grams of BCAAs (in any CNG) at every meal and see how it feels. Better, TimBrian Thank you, Tim. I'll give you a chance and I'll let you know. PrimoHow important is the eating-crap-once-a-week rule? Does it make a lot of difference without that? I could eat a lot of bread, etc. for that, right? JPI will try again. Is chili good or bad (home or restaurant) for this diet? It seems to have all the necessary ingredients but tomato sauce could be a problem (for sugar?). Any advice would be appreciated.Karen I think you can take it. He often refuses to make his own sauce using tomato and corn. I've been eating shots every day with my black beans (help with taste) and made a chicken dish using them. I lost 5 pounds and 1 and a half inches after a week. I'm going to make chili this week with dirt turkey and lots of beans! HollyCathy & CR, Thank you for sharing your experiences. I'm also trying to eat smaller portions, and I'm going to try to avoid bread and gluten on my next day of trap. I felt like a trailer on Sunday after having pizza and sushi on my Saturday day. Maybe it's not a brilliant idea. And I'm not stepping on the scale again until Friday. I will come back! animations,HollyMatt@Holly (and anyone who is impatient): Be patient... will sink into... and when he does it is powerful things. Do not try to modify the method until you give it a chance – A MES. I agree that the day of "honey" (which is not really a deception at all... on the contrary... it is a RULE) feels weird sometimes but it is like a recipe... Do the best of your ability or you could abort. Tim spent a lot of time and effort experimenting, so they have hundreds (thousands) of others since this blog began – do you really want to start fiddling? MattRyan what about raw milk (without pasteurized, without homogenizing, full fat)?... Is it allowed?... or is it the "no milk" suggestion for adulterated milk in stores? How long should I try to follow this diet before I see results? Ahmed STim, I'm not sure if you mentioned it before or not, and I can't seem to find a specific number in 4HB, but what is "low carb"? I mean you can't completely avoid carbohydrates because they will exist in minimum quantities in something or the other. How many grams of carbohydrates per meal or per day would you say they would be online with this program? A few years ago I read about the TNT diet for the health of men who also rely on eating low carbohydrates and I think they mentioned a maximum of 50g of carbohydrates per day. Is it the same for slow carbition (maximum 50g of carbohydrates per day)? You also mention that we can't eat fried food with bakery, but we can eat fried food (but without bread) right? As if I wanted to fry my eggs in canola oil instead of micro-changing them, that shouldn't be a problem, right? AhmedTheresaMorning after the sixth day in the diet, down 5 pounds, which is a total of 4.8 pounds. I'll take it and I've never felt better in a diet. I'll take my memories the morning before my day of trap, Saturday. Celebrating the big party! I haven't been much since the start of the diet, (probably I would have lost more if it were this morning 😉 Any suggestions? You don't like to depend on the laxatives. KarenTheresa, I know how you feel! I've even been eating half a can of sauerkraut and drinking a ton of water and coffee and still in extreme pain. I'm going to go to the store to get a test supplement. Tim talks about it on page 111 and 112 I think. I hope this helps. Bill MOnly an update for me. I started P90X on 1/1/11. I found this blog 1/4 and started the slow car (2/3 in 1/5) I say 2/3, because my wife had bought wizard quisine containing meat and she was ovo-lacto on 1/1. So to not throw them away, I had a lean quisine paste for lunch through 1/7. Kicked by slow car for real in 1/8. So far, I'm dropping 7# for the year and almost 2′′ in the waist. The heat days will be Sunday (pieball – superbowl) in the short term, could go to Sat after the superbowl. I don't want any carbohydrate. I don't know what I'm gonna do to cheat, maybe a fat hoagie or pizza. There'll be beer! Oh, book 4HB came yesterday and I'm through the first 1.5 chapters. Fat/lean loss will be made, then the transition to add muscle sections. Very well written, style of writing matter that anyone can breeze through! Thank you Tim! Jessie Hey Tim I'm going to try this slow carbohydrate diet from today. Witch expects to be a little easy for me as I'm Mexican and I have practically everything on the list. I need more vegetables in my life, not that I don't want them. I don't have them at home. My co-worker told me I could go through a vegetarian with all the vegetables I eat. Funny thing is, it's my diet. I don't drink soda, not like sweets a lot. I have cut the way down in tortillas of flowers and will be *excluding * the cake of flowers., * bread, (love) * rice of my diet. I'd say breakfast is my favorite meal of the day, I love eggs, *hashbrowns, BACON, chorizo. What do you think of the pork chorizo, maybe do mine? What do you think of this food? pine beans that boiled with a bacon for flavor eggs and add pine beans and break (w/out) bacon Thanks. Time has told me! In fact, having a problem simplifying Theresa. I plan to try to add higher fiber vegetables in my meals. Theresa, you think all the bean fiber would be enough! I will float away 😉MattTheresa ... beans have tons of fiber, but it is usually soluble fiber that tends to tie. You want to eat more soluble fiber like certain beans (although not Pinto or Black), lush greens (The spinach is my fave), and saved. Add a lot of those and come back to action soon... but it takes a little time. Munch in some bran muffins on your cheating day too... Giuseppe Wow, you, Timothy, have created a monster. Look at this pole. Do you have any idea how difficult it is to go slow carbohydrate for an Italian (one of those born and raised in Italy). It's practically impossible. But I try, as always I've lost weight, it's always been both fat and muscular, and whenever I've been in shape I've always gained fat. Obviously I can't find a sweet place. It's not in my genes or in my tradition or in my lifestyle. There is an interesting thing about your diet, at least as expressed here and in your book. You never talk about keeping the weight/inches off when the weight/inches of the goal has been achieved. In the 4-hour body you splendidly illustrate all these experiments and hacks, but is your diet just one of those – experiment and hack? The thought of eating like this forever makes me want to be fat. It's very bad. Strong and fat, sexy and fat, cool and fat, satisfied and fat. drinking wine, eating croissants, being a comensal, living the fat of life. fat fat. So for everyone else who isn't as OCD as you, or not as excited to put this job in shape, is there a strategy of exit? What happens after 30 days. Back to my Mediterranean diet so pretty and pudgy? Thanks for the very interesting books. G. Theresa Thanks Matt, I checked the website. I thought the fiber was fiber! I'll try some of those food suggestions sharply. Billy Like I'm scared, I've been on the diet for 2 weeks and the first week I lost 11 pounds! Then the day of deception hit and followed the rules and went crazy, however I noticed that I've won 5 pounds of cheat day and even though I jumped in the car the next day and followed the rules to a "t" that still took up to the day before the day after the cheat to go back to where I started... Is it normal? I feel like I'm taking a step forward and two steps back! KLHello! I hope to receive some breath words from some of the long-term slow carbide. I started my slow carbohydrate diet at 1-2-2010 and for the next Saturday I had lost 6.5 lbs, yay!! We had our day of trap on Saturday, I didn't really go too crazy, and I did everything according to the book w/ the exception of supplies because we didn't have them yet. Now it's Wednesday night and I still have 1.5 pounds heavier than my pre-splurg day weigh. I would have thought that I would have returned to my pre-splurg (does that sound naughty to someone else? ) weight for now and have lost some more pounds. Has anyone else experienced this? I followed the diet to the "law card" with one exception. I have 1/2 an individual creamy and 1.5 packs of artifical blue sweetener every day without eating. me + no coffee = big problems. Jacob Mercy I just finished my fourth week on this diet, and it went from 205 to 200. The percentage of body fat and measurements indicate that increased fat loss was not obsessed by muscle gain; body fat currently around 20%. FOOD: Following the diet precisely, eating only white eggs and eggs, chicken, pig, meat, recommended beans, spinach, vegetables, and occasional slice of broccoli or fungus. Consumed at least 30 grams of protein per meal, often more (especially for dinner). Breakfast had within an hour of awakening, with an exception, and usually within 30 minutes. Fruit avoided. I rarely had almonds, never more than 10. CHEAT DAY: I ate eggs and beans for breakfast on the day of the cheaters, and then had large amounts as I wanted. He made regular bursts of air squads and wall presses before and 90 minutes after unhealthy food. He took an extra polycosanol in the morning. Favorite trap day meal: pizza. DRINK: Draw a lot of water (at least one gallon), more on the day of deception. He had diet soda in most days (12 oz), and merlot glass less often. There is no milk, normal soft drinks or fruit juice (except on cheating day, when I had grapefruit juice before the second meal). He had a rum and a dietary coke at the third Wednesday bar; my biggest deviation from the diet. I had coffee regularly. When the added cream, never more than the spoonful or two (measure). GLUCOSE: He had cinnamon with coffee, limited amounts of lemon juice with each meal. SUPLEMENTS: Take potassium, magnesium and calcium in recommended doses. He also took PAGG in recommended doses, which produced extremely bad insomnia from the second week. Disappeared three days of PAGG due to delay in delivery of Amazon.com in the third week, then resumed. He took a day off every week. EJERCICIO: went for a walk every day, and followed the Occam Protocol after the first week. Moderate cardio on Tuesday. COLD: took cold showers five days a week, made the ice pack six days a week, regularly left without a jacket or sweater on walks. It did not start drinking ice water until the second week, consumed regularly afterwards. He didn't try ice baths; the showers found nasty enough. So, have I done something wrong? I feel overwhelmed by the results, and I am honestly in a loss to see what I could have done differently or incorrectly. Audrey Longexcure this if you have declared it before but ive passed through the comment pages and you have seen it. Regularly like meals like mass soup, tofu and seaweed. I don't really know where these foods fit in with the diet. I really want to make this diet and if these are part of acceptable foods bad to be golden. I can see that these foods could go any way. Seaweed, is it a vegetable? I know that by culinary standards it's basically a calf but technically an algae. Will you give me the same results as eating mixed vegetables? Mass, its seaweed, soy paste and fish stock but there's a lot of salt... Tofu... your curd soy but soy milk is left for processing... Does this also mean the same tofu then? If anyone can help you go appreciate it. Thank you! Darakshan So we can still have an unlimited one about lentils even if they have a higher calorie account? Will that have an impact on the results? Elizabeth I'm curious what post-workout meals would be (in addition to pizza, I'm a girl and I can't eat like that). Besides, I thought the white carbohydrates/wheat were not allowed except on cheat days, but is there a picture of a pizza like a post-workout meal? Was it a cheat day, too? Have you eaten everything? I'm sorry, too many questions. I'm also curious about red wine. I see that drinking wine is often discouraged during weight loss (by-product, acetate, burns for fuel before body fat burns). I've got an obstinate body fat of 27%. I'm trying to get it down to 20% (no sense in leaner's increase and then you need breast implants, right?) Is this really gonna work for a woman's metabolism or is this for the kids? Thank you in advance! Ronan McCabe Absolutely love the new book but have a quick question I couldn't see done. Canned foods are fine, but does that include spinach in the water? I know spinach is unique at the level of nutrients lost in storage, so I wonder if it's worth eating in this way. Thanks to anyone who has an answer! xRonan McCabe Absolutely love the new book but have a quick question that I could not see done. Canned foods are fine, but does that include spinach in the water? Thanks to anyone who has an answer! oxnew_low_carberanyone on here diagnosed with gout doing this diet? Neil ShahHi Tim, I've been doing this for 4 days. I'm not a big guy, you don't have a ton of body fat to lose and exercise a little, especially running/rock climbing but I just want to cut a little, the chisel up etc. I think I'm seeing results but I have a couple of questions/comments:1. Running is hard on this diet. I usually run between 3-5 miles a day, easy but I found my heart hitting and legs burning after 2 miles. Cardio's work was very difficult. 2. I had Thai food with my girlfriend last night, and I had a pineapple on her. Will you sabotage my efforts? Thanks Tim or Tim's Assistant. ShawnTim-I bought your book in Kindle 10 days ago and started the diet 8 days ago. I'm losing an average of 7 pounds a day. With the possible mix of proteins and vegetables available, I have not lost my "white" foods. I've been enjoying my glass of red wine a little more, though. I love where this is going! I'm starting the supplements next week! Marilyn Hello everyone. I've been following the show and having eggs, beans and spinach for breakfast. (My first week.) My problem is time... Is there a protein shake that meets the criteria of the Four Hour Corps? I would really like to have something I could have in the march those mornings that I hit the snooze button too many times! Best wishes for all in these efforts! MarilynReggie Hello. Tim, I'm working through the Slow Carb diet now. I'm curious about Quinoa. Can I eat this freely with the diet, or is it better restricted for post exercise? And I really like egg whites without the yolks... Is it problematic to eat 2-3 whole eggs for breakfast? Also, in relation to your chapter on the consumption of nuts from Brazil to increase testosterone: I am interested in doing this, but I am allergic to nuts from Brazil. Any alternative? Thank you, Holly, thank you for your thoughts, Matt. I'm not so sure yet. There's no evidence in the pudding for me. I have been following this diet for exactly 1 month with NO real weight loss. As I said the scale yo-yos between 150 and 145 depending on the time of the day and what I ate, and I have abstained from constant regret. He only stepped on it today for the first time in a week after following the protocol religiously + PAGG + herving exercise regime x 3/week + swimming. There is no progress on the scale except, if my measurements are correct, I have lost 1/2′ out of my thighs since I started the program a month ago. I'm starting to think it's almost impossible to lose weight at 40. But other people have. I've been more disciplined on this diet than ever before, so you can't say it's cheating. I don't know. Maybe I'll have my thyroid verified by hypothyroidism, although I'm not lethargic and I have a lot of energy. HollyHolly, that should've read 'AFTER 40 lion weight'! TheresaThings has slowed down for me, but I was expecting that. Eight full days and loss of wieght is the same (4.8 lost). I'm hanging there your gh and I bought a bell to start that routine on Monday. Publish the final wieght and the messages tomorrow before the day of trap. I'll stop weighing myself daily, too, maybe every 2-3 days. Holly, probably the only way to find out what it is to stop your weight loss is by tracking what your food is a great website that does all that for you. It's not the easiest place to move, but it's free. You put in the food you eat and imagine protien, sugar, carbohydrates, etc. You're gonna have to sign up, I think... He even tracks his weight and measurements. I had eaten ham one night, (not thinking), and I put it in a food diary, 2100 grams of salt! That's on top of what I've eaten for the day. The next morning I weighed 2 pounds heavier, it took me two days to remove it. I won't eat that again! Good luck! I'm actually trapped in a plateau too... and it's frustrating particularly in the light of the fact that I lost about 26 pounds the last time I tried this diet. It's been a month for me and I've lost 7 pounds. However, I know that the diet works (even without the PAGG and Kettle Bell routine) and I can feel that my body changes subtly... the areas are more adjusted than before... The pants are looser... things like that. I wish I'd measured it before! This way I look at it, this way of eating (and exercise and supplements are an additional bonus) is good. It feels good... Sounds good... he knows well... and I'm never hungry. So... what's the rush? How long did your body take to slowly pack the extra pounds? In my case, I went from being a national rank rugby player during high school through the 26 years, with an optimal playing weight of 225 pounds to my current weight of 275 during the 14 year course... 3.5 pounds a year. It's not too hard to let him slide! My point is that your body can't give up everything in a month, but who cares? There's a guy named "ShrinkingLeon" and he's lost something like £85. He didn't leave 20 pounds lost... Keep going. That's what I'm going to do... and you? Maybe you're working too hard and feel resentful for lack of progress on the scale? If that's true, I'd suggest you don't work that hard... Leave the Kettle Bells and even the PAGG until you feel better for the diet and start losing a few pounds. When they come out, I found that they tend to stay away from this diet... That's the good news! MCathy@Matt, @Holly, et alI listen to you. Except that it doesn't make sense for a person to leave all whites (without carbohydrates except beans), it follows 4HB religiously, restricting calories and losing only 4 pounds in 3 weeks. I agree that it took a while to put in... but this weight loss rate is demoralizing considering the type of monastic feeding plan that I am in 6 days of the week... and even my days of trap are not spectacular by any means (with this slow to non-existent weight loss I fear a "real" day of trap. Definitely no bear claws for me!). I'm holding and finishing my week 4, but 20 pounds of fat in 30 days not in my letters... I'd have been excited about 10 pounds right now! But I can't see what happens unless at week 4 my body suddenly releases 5 pounds in that week! Trying to stay strong, trying to stay positive. Elizabeth Hello Cathy... maybe read again Tim's comments on the need for a day of deception to re-adjust leptin levels and keep your thyroid paddling. As women, our reaction to these slowdowns is to eat less and/or work harder when that is not what our body needs. Shoot him this Saturday – eat your heart and do not weigh yourself for 4 days (to minimize the impulses to jump from the buildings because your muscles will be filled with happy glycogen and water molecules and cause blows on the scale). Then see what happens. Holly Hey Matt, I think you're right, one has to throw the idea of "thorax fat loss" out the window. That can work for some people, but it's true, most of us don't get to our current weight at night, so much point of thinking it's going to disappear during the night too. I agree: it feels good to eat this way for the most part, I like to cut carbohydrates and most gluten, keep sugars in control, and I think it's pretty healthy. I guess it's also like watching the water boil. I just need to keep doing what I'm doing and change my focus for a while. So thank you for your thoughts. And good luck getting through your plateau too! I'll keep checking. Holly Holly Hey Matt, I think you can be right. "The loss of radical fats" could work for some, but definitely not for others. I agree, we haven't gotten this way overnight, so not much point in thinking it's going to disappear realistically either the night in the morning. It's like watching the water boil. I just need to keep doing what I'm doing and change my focus for a while. So thank you for your thoughts. And good luck getting through your plateau! I will keep checking. cheerful, Hollymarkk Hello; I have been doing this for 3 weeks without loss at all. The first week I used a serum protein instead of meat. The second week I went with meat. This week I cut portions of beans a little and ate a little more broccoli instead of the vegetables I was eating. I was eating a mixture of broccoli, cauliflower, leaks, mussel buds and a few mushrooms mixed with some cans of soup that are mainly tomatoes and beans.i I am now eating only black beans and pine beans with broccoli and cauliflower and a protein shake sometime in the day and meat. After binge's day, I didn't earn any weight. He ate a lot of things. Maybe things will change after this binge day.Sarah3 questions:1. Lost 5 pounds in week 1, lost 1.5 in week 2, lost 1.5 in week 3. I am 5'2 and 120 lbs currently, I want to lose 10 pounds more. Why is weight loss slowed when I have followed this diet to the last letter?2. Is the teriyaki sauce okay? I'm not sure about this... I'm pretty sure it has sugar or corn starch or something on it.3. How do we get wet from the diet and keep weight once we've lost it? ezjaxSo, I see that this forum lacks the common knowledge of science and bodybuilding (in addition to maybe tim) if you want to lose 1 pounds of fat or muscle (no water) you must burn an excess of 3500 calories.. means that if you're 100 pounds and your maintanence is 15cal days per lb theoretically you could eat a bit less No... there's no way to make sure that apart from lifting heavy and continuing to tear down your muscles. Don't look at the scale, the most important thing is % body fat and power/weight ratio if you quit living long... I'm currently in the ckd, and I'm checking everything, I'm gonna be running a free lactic gluten-free slow carbohydrate on my vracs when I'm done... also taking the ec pile... Lost 7 pounds in 10 days above all water... if I can link my record let me know Tim WThe last 10 pounds are always the most difficult it seems. I know Tim has a section in his book. You don't get from this diet. It's more of a lifestyle change. It's suggested you do it forever. SarahHmmm after doing this for 3 weeks has certainly become a lifestyle change. Although literally all the dishes of my heritage have rice and bread, I just replaced them with steam broccoli, green beans, mussels and/or legumes (with the season to spice it). I don't feel private at all and I'm eating a lot more vegetables than ever. I'll probably stay with him more or less after losing the last 10 (now 9!) pounds, but maybe he gets a little more lax? How to limit myself to 1 serving of fruit (the only thing I miss), or have a cup of yogurt if I really want it? I don't know if this is the right approach. Linda Hi, Tim, you just finished Four Hours Corps and find it full of great resources. One question: has Menopausian women lost weight following the slow carbohydrate diet? Rich BHi Tim, I have a question about sweeteners. I enjoy tea and usually add honey or sugar. Is it okay with the Slow-Carb diet? If I can't use it? The cinnamon doesn't mix well with tea! David Hi Tim, I'm surprised the weight "cheat day" is taking so long to lose. After the first week in slow carbohydrates had passed from 200 pounds to 193.4(I am a well built 5'9′′′′′′′ and ideally I want to be at 165) After the day of the traps I returned to 196.4, which was less weight gain than I expected for the dietitians who had gone wild day. However, it's Saturday morning....6 days after my first day of trap and I still haven't gotten back to the weight that was a week ago. Since the last week hasn't taken away the weight I've put, I'm almost scared to have a day of trap today! In a case like this, should I just have a cheat "meal" instead of the day? Or shouldn't I go so wild on DGW's day? Thank any comments you may have. DavidCorey McMahon I just had my first milk / sugar / white carbohydrates in a week from the beginning... I feel bad! I can't wait to get back to the chicken breast and legumes. JuliaDear Tim and fellow diet, first of all thanks for writing 4HB, it's fabulous! 🙂 I am confused about what type of powder protein are fine. Since eating dairy is forbidden in this diet, is that also true for protein powders made of milk protein? If so, why is it okay to use serum protein powder (see your recommendation to Luca on this page)? Whey is also a dairy product! The reason I'm asking is that I've been on the 4HB diet for two weeks but have lost only 1 kg. I'm using protein powder (milk, egg, soy, serum protein and something else – I forgot:) that contains small amounts of sugar and sweetener. I want to find out if it's the milk/whey protein that keeps me from losing weight, or that little sugar and sweetener. Experiences and tips would be appreciated !:) Thank you, JuliaAndrew Vaughanslow carb weight lossDEC 16 2010- 235 lbJAN 15 2011- 218 lbSIZE 40 PANTS TO SIZE 381. did not exercise as you wanted to see first the "control" and how much exercise will accelerate the loss2. followed the plan of slow letters but my portions were very generous as I did not want the excuse of hunger as it was from failure3. feel really guilty about binge day but definitely see a weight gain and fall back then weighing in the day as promised in 4HB4. Anne Ortega Hello Andrew, congratulations on your loss! It's great to see your success here to motivate others to finally lose weight. Since this has worked for you, I was curious to know how your binge days were compared to your usual days. Did you go crazy and eat only desserts, or carbohydrates? How much more, amount-sabio and calories, did you eat in binge days compared? I hope to hear you soon! Well, today was officially the day of weight. 5.7lbs lost in 9 days1.75 inches lostYIPPEE Even better it's cheating day! I will not regret until Wednesday (1/19/11). I'm curious how long it will take me to lose the excess of today (today). Well, big day today, party for my 50th birthday! Damn it, where's the time? I have a feeling that Sunday will not be a good day.. Ha! Did my last comment not seem to do so through mediation?? I'm thinking because I put a website on it? It's a free website, so I didn't think it was a problem.... guys of grief 😉KaylaYou could please give me a list of vegetables that I should eat because it's easier for me if someone tells me rather then I choose some. Thank you so much! Honestly, Kayla Like the book and concepts. Can you give us a trap sheet with the 20-25 things we can do to get maximum results? You know, the biggest impact, the majority hit your dollar tips? I read in an interview recently that you gave him a top 4, and I was a little surprised that the cinnamon in coffee and ALA made that list. Thank you. JonoI would be interested in knowing how successful this diet has been with people who are reasonably wise (for men 12-15% BF). Once you overcome the mental barriers, it is not so difficult for obese to lose fat quickly while adhering to some basic principles that influence them to the sub-food (this diet does it through foods with high satiety that is, those rich in proteins, beans/heaters and sources of health fat) but as your physicist rests, going becomes more difficult, due to the reasonable amount of I have been on the diet for the last 2 weeks averaging 1700 calories, 195g protein, 55g carbohydrates, 85g fat per day (I calculated my caloric intake to 2600 FWIW) and have adhered to the guidelines throughout everything. I have also done full weight training body 3x per week and cardio 2x per week according to my usual schedule. I started at 176.5lb and 13.5% of body fat and from today my low-scale weight 1lb, but my waist size is exactly the same (33′′) and my photo appearance is not noticeably different (abs does not appear more visible, arms no more defined). My second day of trap is tomorrow and if I don't see any results for the end of this coming week I think I'm gonna call it quit and try something else (I'm thinking a carbohydrate cycling diet might produce better results for someone in my position). I'm going to link a complete review with the photos included when the diet is over. LaurieTim,Santa brought us this book for Christmas and my husband and I were happy to start this adventure together. I wonder... Does it ever seem that the work changes make this process slower or ineffective? I've been attached to your plan religiously for two weeks. I work two days immediately for two nights with four days off. Like the same things but at different times of the day (or of the night). Looks like I'm losing my night shifts and a plateau or winning half a pound or so. I wonder if this is expected? Is there anything I can do to help? It's frustrating that I'm not doing anything wrong and yet the losses have been minimal. Thank you for listening and congratulating for all your successes. I need a full simple meal that I can put in a lunch box that I can eat at work. I would also need some snacks (also because of uncomfortable hours because I start working at 16:00 a few days and get my break at 4.05pm and finish the work at 1am so I need you to chill between to stop me and irrging the junk food at the restaurant at night) Thank you so much for helping me. P.S. I'd eat anything that's not demanding. Q.SeeTim, or anyone else, for those who can handle ice baths, what is MED when in slow carbohydrate for fat loss? Every day, every day... Lee Hey... maybe someone can answer this question for me. We can obviously eat black beans in the slow carbohydrate diet.. so it would be reasonable that we could eat the red Bob Flour Black Bean Mill in the slow carbohydrate diet, as it is only black beans of stone land. Then I could mix that with water, salt and a little shortening and make black bean flour tortillas. Then I could put my meat and eggs in them for some breakfast tacos. But, there's something like the white flour, which then makes the black bean flour out of bounds. What does everyone think? lukehow are tomatoes to be used? Do they qualify as fruit and therefore should be avoided or are they good to eat in any amount? SteveStarted Slow Carbohydrate Diet following instructions on 4-Hour Body. After a week? Absolutely no change. Am I missing something? Eat every four hours, without white carbohydrates, mainly eggs, chicken, vegetables and beans. I had my day of trap on Saturday. Waiting for a change in week 2. Suggestions? Theresa Observations that do not do it through moderation?? Does anyone know why? Or are they slow? TheresaStrange, did that appear immediately? Theresa This comment is dated for the 15th of the morning! It's a free website so I didn't think it was a problem.... guys of grief 😉Robert SFeeling a little like Paul H here. I have been slow-carbing for two weeks, and while I lost a little weight at first (a little more than a pound) I am now gaining weight. It took me five days to get my weight back from my first day of trap. In my second I had won a pound before the day of cheaters even start (too much came the night before?) and ignoring the weight I gained from the day of cheaters, I raised an additional 1/2 a pound after my first day of diet cheats. Not like a ton of meat, so I've been making two whole organic eggs in some way as my protein source for most meals. I'll eat meat probably 2 or 3 meals during the 6 days non-cheat. Frozen dogs, black or pine beans. A cup of green tea in the mornings, a bourbon and water maybe 3 nights a week. I feel good, no headaches or anything that makes me think I'm not getting enough calories, but no weight loss. I admit I don't have a ton of weight to lose. I am 6'2′′ and 173lbs today. But my Bodpod % body fat is too high about 25%, and that's what I'm trying to make effect. Since I'm not really working on me, I don't think the weight is coming up from adding muscle. And to lower that fat percentage, I think I'd have to lose weight. The total inches have not changed either, but I'm also tracking them. Ideas? Rick I'm sure this has probably been approached ad-nauseum, but I'm confused as to whether the fatless yogurt or not is allowed. I know the rule is not dairy, out of the house cheese, but in the "Go Fermented" mentions how effective yogurt can be like a vehicle for good bacteria. Does anyone know the answer? Tim Ferriss Depends on your goal. If fat loss is the main objective, avoid yogurt completely. SarahSo, I have about 105-106 pounds, and I've been counting calories (currently 1,300) for 4 years. I'm also doing cheating on Saturday. I recently started lifting heavier weights, but I think the caloric restriction prevents me from getting into the muscle. Even though I won't stop counting limes, because I'm terrified of fatting. Will this diet help me, or will I gain fat? Aleksander Hi, Tim. I'm playing ice hockey, so I've got training. What would you recommend lowering my fat and hiding my muscles? Feeling for my Eanglish bad but the best I can! I hope you answer. Thank you! MsReynaI knows this can be a silly question, but can we eat corn? Or do all vegetables have to be green (except cauliflower)? In addition, can we replace Morning Star Farms products with our choice of proteins and meat? Thank you. AnaLorrieOk, I'm a female who was a little frustrated with my slow scale of movement. But I'm starting week 3 and even with a very satisfying cheating day on Saturday, it got on the scale today and almost 8 pounds!! I was so excited. He had a very slow weight loss and fell. I'd like to lose 10 more, and I stick to it. I also do Spin classes and I went out to Target today and bought a Kettlebell, so I'll start that. I try to cool myself with a minimal effort, taking a short walk with my dog in our winter time, I let myself feel cold and don't do as much as I've always done in the past. Nothing painful. So stay with him if you're doubtful, stay faithful to the program, it works!
